How to recover a forgotten or lost Yahoo! ID or password?

If you forget your Yahoo! ID or password, please visit the Yahoo! Password Helper. We have found that this wizard will resolve the majority of password and Yahoo! ID issues.
If you require further assistance, you will need to provide three of the following pieces of information:
  • Your birthday.
  • The ZIP or postal code on record in your Yahoo! account.
  • The alternate email address on file for your account.
    • Note: You must have access to this email address.
  • The Country code on record in your Yahoo! account.
Be sure to provide the same information you provided the last time you registered for a new Yahoo! ID or password or the last time you updated your account.

If you forgot your password, you can create a new one. Please provide the following information so that we can confirm your identity:
  • Your Yahoo! ID.
  • Either your alternate email address, mobile phone number, or the answers to your secret questions.
A "Reset Your Password" link will be sent to your alternate email address. Click the link and enter your new password into the "Reset Your Password" page.

To ensure the security of your account, please understand that we cannot provide your Yahoo! ID or reset your password if you are unable to correctly answer your secret questions.
If you wish to try and restore your password from a Mobile Phone or other SMS device, please see our article entitled Recovering a Forgotten or lost password from a Mobile Phone, which will walk you through the steps.
If you find that none of these suggestions resolve your issues, please click Contact Yahoo! on the far right and our Customer Care team will be happy to assist you. (You will still need to provide some Account Verification information.)
